Recently, Bachelor of Nursing students at BCIT finished an eight-week mental health clinical rotation at Millers Way.

The students learned that the key to successful community living for people with mental illnesses are: respect, a caring environment and exceptional medical care.

Here is an excerpt received from a student after her experience:

“Seeing how the staff work with residents at Millers Way made me very emotional. The way in which they spoke to and treated the residents clearly expressed their care. Their conversations with the residents demonstrated warmth and genuineness even if they were giving constructive feedback.

The staff work to empower the residents to be independent and functional. The clinical rotation at Millers Way proved to be one of the most meaninful and eye-opening experience of my education so far.”
